The original cast at a glance
The official anime guide introduces six featured characters. These brief role descriptions are enough to distinguish the names before you read detailed plot pages. They describe the original anime, not the new ensemble in Edgerunners 2.
| Character | Role in the official introduction |
|---|---|
| David Martinez | The young protagonist entering Night City’s mercenary world. |
| Lucy | A skilled netrunner with a concealed past. |
| Rebecca | An outspoken fighter associated with the crew. |
| Maine | The crew’s leader and David’s mentor. |
| Faraday | A fixer who brings the crew jobs. |
| Adam Smasher | A heavily cybernetically enhanced threat. |

A useful way to remember the roles
When several names arrive at once, separate the viewpoint character from the person arranging the job and the people carrying it out. Here, David is the entry point into the story, Maine is the mentor and crew leader, and Faraday is the fixer. Those are different responsibilities, even when they belong to the same chain of work.
Lucy’s netrunner role points toward the technical side of the setting. You do not need to learn a game build or a tabletop rulebook to follow a character introduction. Use the setting guide for a short explanation of the vocabulary.

Where does Pilar fit?
Rebecca and Pilar are siblings. Their earlier lives are the focus of the MADNESS prequel manga, which takes place before they join David’s crew. That makes the manga a different kind of companion to the anime than Edgerunners 2, which introduces a new cast.
If you are looking for more about these two specifically, follow the manga guide rather than assuming a numbered anime installment continues their personal story.
What this guide leaves out
Character deaths, late-story allegiances and ending explanations are outside this introduction. Exact ages, birthdays and technical specifications are also omitted where the original official profiles do not establish them.
For visual identification, the official character page includes character artwork. Be aware that promotional pages and trailers can show more of a cast than the opening episode does.
